This DIY was is one of my favorites because it is so easy and the result looks like summer. It really is quick to make, and you don’t need too many supplies. I finished it completely within an hour, which didn’t even take up a whole nap time.
What you’ll need:
Embroidery Hoop (Each hoop actually comes with two)
Faux Flowers and foliage (I found all of these at Hobby Lobby while half off)
Floral Wire
Hot Glue gun and glue
Floral wire cutters
Paint
Yarn
Start with painting your hoop so that it can dry.
While I waited for the hoop to dry, I started on making my large tassels. I was inspired by this tutorial to add tassels, I loved the effect of having something extra. I just searched different diys for tassels, and then made mine bigger. This one was a great walk through on how to make them. I used only yarn, and wrapped it around a mason jar with the top open. I don’t know why I didn’t get pics.
Arranging your flowers comes next. Make sure to cover where to hoop connects. I roughly placed my biggest flowers first, and filled in green, added cotton and berries next, then added smaller flowers to fill holes last. I used a little floral wire, but this really could be done all with hot glue if you use a generous amount. I was worried the bigger flowers may need extra reinforcement with the wire, or they might fall off.
I really liked the look of an unbalanced wreath. These hoops are also really cute with the flowers centered in the bottom as well.
I love the feeling of a simple hoop with bunched flowers. It adds such a beautiful element to my front door. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a comment. And I’d love to see any you make!
